The staggering figure has sparked surprise, considering it is nearly 200 times the total value of the US dollars in global circulation.
Authorities revealed on social media that the suspects purportedly claimed to be transporting cash from Togo to Dubai, seeking assistance from two Dutch citizens.
The accuracy of the figure provided by the police has been doubted by many; however, the authorities clarified that it was sourced from officials in the Netherlands, who are currently unavailable for comment on the issue.
