Key Sudanese army base in South Darfur falls to RSF

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced today, Thursday, that they have taken control of the 16th Infantry Division headquarters in Nyala, South Darfur State, after three days of clashes.

They stated that their forces inflicted significant casualties on the Sudanese army, destroyed large military vehicles, and seized military equipment.

The headquarters of the 16th Infantry Division in Nyala is the first major city headquarters controlled by the RSF in Darfur.

The second-in-command of the RSF, Lieutenant General Abdelrahim Dagalo, led the battles to take control of the army’s headquarters in Nyala. He appeared in a video two days ago within the vicinity of the captured army headquarters, surrounded by his troops.

Meanwhile, peace talks between the Sudanese army and the RSF resumed today in Saudi Arabia.
