Libyan dominance ends Kitara’s Confederation Cup run

Uganda’s Kitara FC were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup after a 3-2 defeat to Al Hilal Benghazi of Libya on Friday.

The loss came after a similar result in the first leg of their two-legged qualifier.

The Ugandan side faced additional challenges due to the unavailability of international standard stadiums in their home country.

This forced them to play both legs in Libya, a decision that ultimately proved costly.

Despite a spirited effort, Kitara couldn’t overcome the deficit and were eliminated from the competition.

Al Hilal Benghazi, who reached the group stage last season, will now face Al Masry of Egypt in the final qualifying round.

Other Libyan teams to advance include Al Ahly Tripoli, who defeated Uhamiaji of Zanzibar, and Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso, who progressed on away goals against Hafia of Guinea.
