Six Nigerian soldiers were killed in a pre-dawn attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants on a military base in northeastern Nigeria on Sunday.
The attack, carried out by fighters arriving in trucks and on motorcycles, targeted the base in Sabon Gari, located in the Damboa district of Borno State.
The assailants set fire to the base and army vehicles before withdrawing.
In response to the attack, fighter jets were deployed from Maiduguri, engaging the retreating militants and inflicting casualties.
