Morocco has signed an agreement to participate in the International Stabilization Force for Gaza, state media reported on Wednesday, marking Rabat’s formal entry into the international security and humanitarian initiative.
The agreement was signed in the Moroccan capital during a meeting attended by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, senior defence officials and Nickolay Mladenov, the Gaza Board of Peace envoy.
The delegation also included the commander of the International Stabilization Force, according to Morocco’s official MAP news agency.
Morocco’s defence administration said the agreement demonstrated a shared commitment to supporting peace and security in the region through practical humanitarian and security measures.
The Gaza Peace Council and the leadership of the stabilization force welcomed Morocco’s participation, which is expected to include the deployment of senior military officers, members of the Royal Gendarmerie and police personnel.
Morocco will also establish a military field hospital to provide medical and humanitarian assistance in Gaza, MAP reported.
The North African country is a close ally of the United States and restored diplomatic relations with Israel in 2020. Rabat has continued to publicly support the creation of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel as part of a negotiated two-state solution.
