In Nigeria’s Kano state, initial reports indicate that 14 people have died after a truck crashed into worshippers during Friday prayers.
Abdullahi Labaran, the Public Relations Officer for Nigeria’s National Road Safety Commission in Kano, stated in a written announcement that a truck lost control in the Kura area of the Kaduna-Kano highway and plowed into a crowd gathered for Friday prayers.
Labaran noted that preliminary findings from the accident indicate 14 fatalities and numerous injuries. He mentioned that the injured have been transported to nearby hospitals and expressed concern that the death toll could rise.
