Egypt’s state newspaper Al-Ahram reported on Monday that a five-storey building collapse resulted in the loss of at least 13 lives in the capital Cairo.
Rescue workers are combing through the rubble in the Hadayek el Kobba neighborhood, located north of central Cairo, following the collapse of a building. The area is densely populated with informal housing, making the search for survivors a challenging task.
Building collapses are unfortunately a frequent occurrence in Egypt, largely due to inadequate construction standards prevalent in numerous areas.
