Qatar to provide food aid to families affected by war in Sudan

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and Qatar Charity (QC) have signed a grant agreement to provide food baskets for families affected by war and displacement in Sudan, valued at 20 million Qatari riyals.

The agreement was signed by Aisha Al-Kuwari, Director of the Humanitarian Aid Department at QFFD, and Khaled Al-Yafei, Director of the Emergency and Relief Department at QC.

This project aims to provide urgent assistance to those affected by the armed conflict that displaced families and individuals. The initiative involves distributing relief food baskets to 50,000 vulnerable families in the most affected and fragile states of Sudan.

QC will implement the project, actively engaging the local community in identifying beneficiaries, registering them, and overseeing distribution, with a focus on the involvement of women, youth, and community leaders in project execution.

Aisha Al-Kuwari, director of the Humanitarian Aid Department at QFFD, stated, “As QFFD, we stand alongside our Sudanese brothers and sisters. In continuation of our ongoing efforts, the Fund collaborates with various partners to improve living conditions in war and displacement-affected areas in Sudan. We look forward to alleviating suffering through distributing food baskets to affected families.”

Khaled Al-Yafei, Director of the Emergency and Relief Department at QC, commented on the agreement, “This agreement comes within the framework of the ongoing cooperation and strategic partnership between the two parties in relief efforts to support those affected by conflicts and disasters, including the ongoing crisis in Sudan. The aim is to alleviate the suffering of Sudanese displaced persons, refugees, and affected families, addressing existing gaps in food, shelter, health, and more.”

Al-Yafei expressed his gratitude to QFFD for its continuous support of the humanitarian efforts of QC worldwide.
