RSF says 2 towns in Kordofan captured , advancing on Al-Obeid

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) claimed Thursday to have seized control of the towns of Al-Hammadi and Kazgil in Kordofan, pushing closer to the strategic city of Al-Obeid in a fresh offensive against General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) positions.

In a statement posted on social media, the RSF described the capture of Al-Hammadi and Kazgil as part of a broader military strategy aimed at expanding operational maneuverability and targeting what it called “the strongholds of the terrorist Islamic Movement Army.”

The RSF said the latest advances represented its fifth consecutive victory in the region, claiming to have inflicted significant casualties on SAF forces and their jihadist allies. The group also said it had seized large stocks of weapons and equipment in the newly captured areas.

The statement declared that RSF units are in an “advanced phase” of what it called a decisive confrontation with the SAF, vowing to press on toward “the full liberation of the country” and the realization of justice for communities it said have long been marginalized.

There was no immediate response from the SAF or independent confirmation of the RSF’s claims, which come as the war between Sudan’s rival military factions grinds on with devastating consequences for civilians across the country.
