RSF says it took control of Sudanese army infantry brigade in North Darfur

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced via the X platform today, Wednesday, their full control over the 24th Infantry Brigade, Um Kadadah, in North Darfur state and said that they are issuing the final warning to the 6th Division in Al-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur.

The city of Al-Fashir witnessed violent clashes yesterday between the Sudanese army and the RSF, a few days after the RSF announced taking over three major cities in the Darfur region out of five, including the army’s headquarters in South Darfur’s Nyala, the second largest city after Khartoum, and the army’s headquarters in Central Darfur’s Zalingei and West Darfur’s El Geneina.

The army still holds its bases in Al-Fashir, North Darfur, and El Daein in East Darfur.

This comes as the first round of negotiations between the Sudanese army and the RSF concluded in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Tuesday, which was facilitated by Saudi Arabia, the United States, the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD), and the African Union (AU).

Violent clashes took place today, Wednesday, between the Sudanese army and the RSF in large parts of the city of Omdurman, west of the capital, Jabal Awliya, and the Armored Corps headquarters, south of Khartoum. The Sudanese army is deployed in these neighborhoods, which include several military bases, including the air base.

The army is trying to penetrate the center of the city of Omdurman to control the vital Shambat Bridge, which connects it to the city of Khartoum Bahri and is the main supply line for the RSF from the west of the country to the three cities of the capital.

Battles renewed between the army and the RSF in the Armored Corps headquarters in the Al-Shajara area, south of Khartoum, which witnessed fierce battles between the two parties in recent days. The RSF says that they have controlled large parts of the critical headquarters, while the army confirms that it repelled attacks by the RSF.
