Russia and DRC push to deepen their military partnership

Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov met with his Congolese counterpart, Lt. Gen. Charles Richard Mondjo, on Wednesday to discuss strengthening their countries’ military ties.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that Belousov emphasized the “traditionally friendly” relations between Russia and the Republic of the Congo.

He noted that the two nations have established a comprehensive legal foundation for defense cooperation.

“We value the traditionally friendly nature of relations between our countries. In this regard, our ties in the military and military-technical sphere are largely the engine of bilateral cooperation,” Belousov said.

He also expressed his gratitude to Mondjo for attending the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Soviet victory in World War II.

Mondjo conveyed his appreciation for the opportunity to discuss crucial matters concerning their ongoing bilateral defense cooperation.
