Ruto’s trip to Germany aims to secure 200,000 jobs for Kenyan citizens

President William Ruto has expressed his goal of creating opportunities for Kenyans to seek employment in Germany, addressing the escalating unemployment crisis in his nation.

He made this statement shortly before departing for Europe to attend a G20 meeting.

Over a dozen African leaders are en route to Berlin, the German capital, aiming to explore economic prospects, such as labor export agreements and bolstered investments in Africa’s economy.

“Germany’s chancellor was in Kenya about three to four months ago. I am travelling to Germany tonight because he promised us that we would secure 200,000 jobs. I must go follow up on those opportunities,” Mr Ruto said on Sunday.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who has visited Kenya and Nigeria recently, has exhibited a keen interest in enhancing investments on the African continent, particularly focusing on critical minerals and the green energy sectors.

The conference, operating under the banner of the G20 Compact with Africa, seeks to enhance economic connections between African nations and G20 member countries.

Thirteen African nations participate in the program, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo, and Tunisia.

Leaders from additional African nations, such as Kenya and Nigeria, are participating in the event as invited guests.
