Somalia’s Information Minister Daud Aweis announced on Sunday that the country’s Immigration Department had detected an unlawful breach targeting passenger data. Aweis said a national inquiry committee made up of security agencies and international forensic specialists is now analysing the intrusion.
He noted that investigators are working to determine the scope of the breach and identify any systems compromised during the incident. The minister stressed that the government aims to restore confidence by pursuing a transparent process and strengthening digital protections.
He added that authorities will release further details once the investigation clarifies who carried out the attack and how the data was accessed.
