Three separate shootings killed 11 people in Cape Town, South Africa, sending shockwaves through several townships.
The shootings took place in Khayelitsha, Langa and Gugulethu, leaving local communities reeling from the violence.
In Khayelitsha’s Lingelethu West, gunmen opened fire on Sunday, killing three men aged 25, 31 and 35.
In Langa, four men and one woman were killed in a shooting along Winnie Mandela Street.
A third attack struck Gugulethu’s Barcelona settlement, killing two men and one woman and critically injuring two others.
Police deployed additional units to the affected areas to prevent further violence and secure nearby high-risk districts.
Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi said investigators had yet to establish a clear motive for the shootings.
He offered a reward of 100,000 South African rand for information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.
Authorities said gang violence and the spread of illegal firearms remain major security concerns in the Western Cape.
