Storm casualties exceeded 5,200 in Derna, says Libyan Ministry of Interior

The death toll from Storm Daniel, which swept through cities in eastern Libya, has risen to more than 5,200, with thousands more reported missing.

The Libyan Ministry of Interior spokesperson stated that the number of casualties from the storm has exceeded 5,200 in the city of Derna.

The Mediterranean cyclone “Daniel” swept through several areas in eastern Libya on Sunday, including the cities of Benghazi, Al-Bayda, Al-Marj, Susah, and Derna.

On Monday, the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid al-Dbeibah, announced in a statement that the municipalities affected by floods and floods in eastern Libya are considered disaster

In addition, during an emergency cabinet meeting on Monday, Prime Minister al-Dbeibah declared three days of mourning and called on all officials and ministers, without exception, to assess the situation in the eastern region.
