Sudan’s Foreign Minister Ali Al-Sadiq called on the member states and the Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take urgent action to stop Israeli attacks, achieve an immediate ceasefire, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, and activate the relevant mechanisms outlined in the organization’s resolutions through its foreign offices.
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a Wednesday press release that this came during the extraordinary open membership executive committee meeting at the level of foreign ministers of the member states of the OIC, held at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah, by joint invitation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the President of the Islamic Summit, the President of the Executive Committee, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Sudan’s Foreign Minister, during the meeting, emphasized his country’s monitoring of the developments in Palestine following the recent Israeli attacks and Sudan’s consistent stance in supporting the choices of the Palestinian people.
The final statement issued by the meeting emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire by the Israeli occupation forces, strongly condemning and rejecting acts of violence and forced displacement, holding the Israeli occupation authority responsible for the fate of innocent civilians.
The statement also called on the relevant international parties to secure humanitarian aid and support peace efforts by international legitimacy resolutions and entrusted the Secretary-General of the organization with maintaining communication with the UN permanent member states and global and regional organizations concerned to stop hostilities and secure the necessary protection for the Palestinian people.
