Sudan’s RSF accuses Al Burhan’s forces of weaponizing famine

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has leveled serious accusations against Burhan-controlled SAF, saying they are using starvation as a weapon against the civilian population in Darfur and other regions.

In a statement released on social media X, the RSF expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis and called for urgent international intervention.

RSF said that SAF, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, is deliberately obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid to areas under its control.

The RSF has proposed a joint mechanism with the United Nations to ensure the safe passage of aid and protect civilians.

To address the growing famine, the RSF has outlined a plan dubbed “Lifeline,” which includes utilizing all border crossings under its control, particularly the Adre crossing, for aid delivery.

The group has also called for the appointment of a UN humanitarian affairs coordinator in RSF-controlled areas to improve cooperation and facilitate aid distribution.

The RSF’s accusations come amid escalating tensions between the two forces, which have been battling for control of the country since April.

The conflict has displaced millions and caused a severe economic downturn, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

The United States and other international actors have expressed deep concern over the situation and called for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access.
