Youssef Ezzat, the political advisor to the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, stated that he does not recognize the authority of Malik Agar, the Deputy Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan.
Comments come in response to an unexpected initiative presented by the government, following a speech by Agar on Tuesday, calling for a ceasefire as a prelude to comprehensive dialogue and a transitional phase.
The political advisor further stated that the RSF does not recognize the authority of Agar. He emphasized the commitment of the RSF to the Jeddah platform and the Saudi-American initiative.
Agar had announced a roadmap based on an immediate cessation of hostilities and the initiation of comprehensive dialogue to establish a transitional phase.
He said that the roadmap is the first step that will lead to conducting democratic elections in the country.
Agar urged the RSF to consider the ongoing developments and emphasized that the RSF must realize that there is no place for two armies in one state.
Agar apologized to the Sudanese people for the “failure to establish the state,” reaffirming his commitment to exerting every effort to halt the war.
