Three African nations rank among the global hubs for the ultra-rich

An unprecedented wave of private wealth is sweeping across Africa, transforming the continent’s economic landscape.

According to Knight Frank’s Wealth Report 2026, South Africa, Egypt, and Morocco have emerged as the dominant financial powerhouses.

These three nations now firmly rank among the world’s leading hubs for ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

South Africa leads the African continent, claiming the thirty-seventh spot globally with 1,347 ultra-rich citizens.

Forecasters expect this elite group of South African tycoons to expand to 1,564 members by 2031.

Egypt follows closely in forty-second place, currently harboring 822 individuals with fortunes exceeding thirty million dollars.

Meanwhile, Morocco holds the forty-fourth global position, boasting a wealthy enclave of 432 ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

This concentrated financial prosperity mirrors a staggering surge in the accumulation of global capital over recent years.

Between 2021 and 2026, the global population of ultra-wealthy individuals grew sharply to 713,626 people.

The United States largely propelled this global expansion, birthed forty-one percent of these new fortunes.

Together, the United States and China dominate the landscape, holding fifty-five percent of the world’s ultimate wealth.

Yet, Africa’s economic titans continue to carve out their own substantial kingdoms of private capital.
