UAE leader, Al Burhan discuss urgent issues amid Sudan crisis

Sheikh Mohammed expressed the UAE’s commitment to backing initiatives aimed at de-escalating the situation and enhancing Sudan’s stability and security to meet its people’s aspirations, WAM reported.

This call marked the first public communication between the two leaders since their relations soured last year.

Burhan-controlled SAF accused the UAE at the U.N. Security Council in June of supplying weapons to the rival Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a claim the UAE denied amid Sudan’s ongoing conflict.

War broke out between Burhan-controlled SAF and the RSF in April last year over a transition to free elections, leading to widespread displacement and humanitarian crises in Sudan.
