Ukrainian foreign minister emphasizes Africa’s vital role in peace

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba emphasized the importance of Zambia and the African continent in promoting peace during talks with President Hakainde Hichilema in Lusaka.

He highlighted their potential contribution to achieving a lasting resolution.

Kuleba discussed the Peace Summit and Zambia’s decision to join its communique, explaining Ukraine’s next steps toward a second Peace Summit.

He emphasized Africa’s significant role in advancing the Peace Formula and achieving peace in the region.

A conference aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict took place in Switzerland two months ago. Russia wasn’t invited, and China didn’t attend.

The final declaration wasn’t signed by some countries, including India and Saudi Arabia.

Kuleba expressed gratitude for Zambia’s support and President Hichilema’s involvement in efforts to restore peace.

He acknowledged Zambia’s solidarity with Ukraine and highlighted their shared commitment to a just and lasting peace.

During his visit, Kuleba announced Ukraine’s decision to assist Zambia through the “Grain From Ukraine” program to help mitigate the effects of the recent drought.

He also explored strengthening partnerships in agriculture, digitalization, and trade.
