UN calls for humanitarian aid as Sudan faces famine

A group of UN experts say starvation in Sudan has been used as a weapon against the population as the civil war gets harsher due to fighting between Burhan-controlled SAF and rival Rapid Support Forces.

They claim that 97% of Sudanese are facing severe levels of hunger, with over 25 million people affected.

The experts warned that this is the largest modern famine in history and demanded an immediate end to the obstruction of humanitarian aid.

The conflict has displaced millions of people and caused widespread suffering.

The situation has been exacerbated by the rainy season, which has damaged crops and livestock.

The experts called for increased international funding to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

They emphasized that the current level of aid is insufficient to meet the needs of the population.
