US deportees land in South Sudan, Juba airport officials confirm

A plane carrying U.S. deportees landed in South Sudan early Saturday morning, according to two officials at Juba International Airport, following the Trump administration’s successful push to remove eight migrants despite legal challenges.

An airport employee, speaking anonymously, told Reuters the aircraft touched down at 6:00 a.m. local time (0400 GMT) and presented documentation confirming the arrival. A separate immigration official also confirmed the landing but declined to provide further details, directing inquiries to South Sudan’s National Security Service.

A South Sudanese government source earlier said U.S. officials had been present at the airport in anticipation of the deportees’ arrival. The identities and legal status of those deported have not yet been disclosed by South Sudanese authorities.
