The US envoy to Sudan announced a significant improvement in aid deliveries to the conflict-ridden African country.
Fighting in Sudan erupted in April 2023 between al-Burhan-controlled SAF and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) after a failed integration plan.
US envoy Tom Perriello reported that hundreds of trucks had passed through previously blocked areas, improving aid access.
More than 25 million Sudanese face severe hunger, with famine declared in a displacement camp in Darfur, according to the UN.
The conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives, with the World Health Organization estimating at least 20,000 deaths.
Perriello described the situation as dire, accusing the warring factions of escalating the violence rather than ending it.
Several peace talks, including US and Saudi-brokered truces, have failed, with both sides violating agreements.
New negotiations in Switzerland last month saw the RSF participate, but Burhan refused due to objections over the UAE’s involvement.
