A young man in Zalingei, Central Darfur, has died from his injuries after being deliberately struck by a motorcycle during a local football match, according to local residents and eyewitnesses. The incident has sparked concern in the community and renewed debates about rising communal violence.

The victim, 25-year-old Mohammed Abkar Adam from the Thawra neighbourhood, was hit intentionally by a motorcyclist while attending a match between two local teams at the Al-Muhafezeen field. The attack happened moments after the game ended, during the ongoing neighbourhood league in Zalingei. A relative, Yousif Abdelrahman Adam, told media that the assailant deliberately rammed the motorcycle into Mohammed in front of spectators.

Family members said the young man was rushed to hospital immediately after the incident, but he died upon arrival due to severe injuries. Residents described the incident as deeply shocking, particularly as it took place in a public setting during a popular community sporting event attended by many youths and families.

According to local sources, the federal police responded quickly, arresting the suspect and placing him in custody pending further investigation. Authorities said the inquiry will examine the motive behind the attack and all circumstances surrounding the incident, in line with legal procedures for such cases.
