Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced the suspension of all tariffs on imports from the United States.
This decision, declared on Saturday via X, aims to invigorate the flow of American goods into Zimbabwe.
The move also seeks to foster increased exports from Zimbabwe to the US market, according to Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa emphasized the nation’s dedication to fair trade practices and stronger bilateral ties with the United States.
He stated that while reciprocal tariffs typically safeguard domestic employment and industries, Zimbabwe prioritizes friendly international relations.
This unilateral action comes despite the US imposing an 18% surcharge on Zimbabwean exports, part of broader tariffs affecting numerous countries and regions.
