Burkina Faso reassures Fortuna Mining on permit status

Fortuna Mining announced on Monday that the Burkina Faso government has no intention of revoking its existing mining permits in the country.

This follows a statement from junta leader Ibrahim Traore on Saturday, indicating plans to withdraw mining permits from certain foreign companies and increase domestic gold production.

While Traore did not specify which permits might be affected, Fortuna Mining has received assurances from the government that its operations will continue uninterrupted.

Fortuna Mining’s statement suggests the company is confident about its standing in the region despite the political changes.

The company has been operating in Burkina Faso for several years and has made significant investments in its mining projects.

For now, Fortuna Mining will continue its activities while closely monitoring any further announcements from the Burkinabe government.
