Chevron has announced an oil and gas condensate discovery offshore Angola at the 105-4X well in Block 0.
The discovery in the Lower Congo Basin extends Chevron’s 70-year presence in the country.
Engineers identified a 2,000-foot hydrocarbon column with more than 300 feet of net pay and described the reservoir quality as excellent.
Chevron holds a 39.2% stake in Block 0 alongside Sonangol, TotalEnergies and Azule Energy.
The partners will assess whether they can connect the discovery to nearby existing infrastructure to speed up development and reduce costs.
The find follows recent Chevron discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico and Nigeria as the company expands its exploration activities in Africa.
Chevron said the discovery could strengthen its future production pipeline, although further evaluation is still required.
