Nigeria and the United Kingdom have announced a strategic partnership to bolster economic growth, enhance security collaboration, and deepen cultural connections.
Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy shared the details of the initiative at a joint press conference in Abuja on Monday.
The partnership aims to stimulate economic growth through increased investment and trade, creating jobs and adding local value in both countries.
Tuggar emphasized the economic potential of closer ties, while Lammy, on his first official visit to Africa in his role, underscored the UK’s commitment to a long-term partnership that spans economic, environmental, and security cooperation.
Lammy also highlighted the role of the Nigerian diaspora in the UK as a bridge for further cultural exchange and collaboration, reinforcing the importance of people-to-people connections between the two nations.
