Norway’s Equinor remains committed to a $42 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Tanzania, despite delays caused by proposed government changes to a financial agreement.
Negotiations for the East African country’s mega gas project have been stalled since the government proposed changes to the agreement reached last year.
Equinor senior vice president Nina Koch said the company is focused on agreeing on the commercial agreements for Tanzania LNG.
“We are very much committed to the project and we will continue to work and have the dialogue with the partnership and government to get alignment,” she added.
While there is no timeline for a resolution, Koch emphasized Equinor’s commitment to the project. The Tanzanian government has not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter.
