Rolls-Royce & Turkish Technic sign engine maintenance deal

Turkish Technic, the maintenance arm of Turkish Airlines, has signed a significant agreement with Rolls-Royce to create one of the world’s largest engine maintenance facilities at Istanbul Airport.

The partnership, which has been in the works for over 18 months, will see Turkish Technic expand its operations, becoming the third-largest maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company globally.

Currently ranked seventh, the company aims to significantly bolster its engine maintenance services.

Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of Turkish Technic, highlighted the importance of this new facility, which will focus on maintaining engines for Airbus A350 and A330neo aircraft.

“We plan to begin construction in early 2026 and expect to start maintenance operations by late 2027,” Bolat said.

Once fully operational by 2036, the facility will service 200 engines annually, with Turkish Airlines’ growing fleet of 135 Airbus A350s contributing a substantial portion of the demand.

The center will also serve international customers, boosting Turkish Technic’s global presence.

The facility is expected to generate $1.5 billion in annual revenue, with $700 million of that amount benefiting the Turkish economy in exports.

Bolat also emphasized that the investment includes a $300 million commitment to building local engine repair capabilities.

This partnership follows a previous $1.1 billion investment in Istanbul Airport and will further enhance Turkey’s aviation sector, creating both local job opportunities and advanced technical expertise.

Turkish Technic aims to elevate its status as a leader in the global engine maintenance market.
