Turkish and Nigerien defense officials agree on military partnership

Turkey and Niger cemented a new chapter in their defense ties on Thursday. The two nations signed a Military Financial Cooperation Agreement during IDEF 2025, held in Istanbul.

Deputy National Defense Minister Alpaslan Kavaklioglu represented Turkey in signing the pact. Niger’s National Defense Ministry General Secretary Sani Kache signed on behalf of his country.

The agreement promises to deepen military collaboration between the two nations amid regional security challenges. IDEF 2025, a prominent six-day defense industry fair, began Tuesday in Istanbul’s major venues.

It spans Istanbul Fair Center, Ataturk Airport, Wow Hotel, and Atakoy Marina simultaneously. The event draws defense companies, government officials, and military leaders worldwide.

Organized by KFA Fairs, the fair enjoys backing from Turkey’s Defense Industries Secretariat (SSB). The Turkish Armed Forces Foundation also supports the annual showcase of cutting-edge defense technologies.

This gathering highlights Turkey’s growing role as a defense industry hub in the global arena. As the sun sets over Istanbul, IDEF continues to fuel partnerships and innovations shaping future security.
