Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar is expanding its presence across Africa, showcasing its advanced unmanned aerial systems at the Bamako Expo Fair (BAMEX’25) in Mali.
Participating alongside other Turkish companies for the first time, Baykar displayed scale models of its Bayraktar TB2, Akinci, TB3, and Kizilelma drones, drawing attention from international delegations.
The company’s flagship Bayraktar TB2 has become a symbol of modern deterrence for African nations seeking to strengthen their security and intelligence operations.
Countries including Mali, Morocco, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Libya, Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger, Djibouti, Somalia, Rwanda, and Kenya have adopted Baykar’s drones for surveillance and precision strike missions.
Baykar’s growing influence underscores Africa’s role as one of its fastest-expanding markets, where its UAVs are used to counter threats and maintain national stability.
The firm’s exports extend beyond aircraft, encompassing payloads and technologies developed within Turkey’s rapidly evolving defence industry.
Since launching UAV research in 2003, Baykar has earned 83% of its revenue from exports, establishing itself among Turkey’s top 10 exporters across all industries.
Today, the company stands as the world’s largest exporter of armed drones, helping position Turkey as a global leader in unmanned systems.
With export agreements in 37 countries and over 90% of recent contracts signed abroad, Baykar continues to shape the future of aerial defence and redefine Turkey’s technological influence worldwide.
