Uganda has started exporting oil to Kenya after Tanzania

Uganda has announced that it has started exporting oil to Kenya after Tanzania.

According to a statement from the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), the first shipment of 58,000 metric tons of oil has been sent to Kenya. A ceremony was held for the inaugural shipment to the port city of Mombasa in Kenya. Uganda’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa, described the step as a significant milestone for the country.

Uganda’s first oil exports were conducted to Tanzania in March. With the discovery of reserves in 2006, Uganda is anticipated to become the largest oil exporter in East Africa. Last year, the Uganda Petroleum Authority (PAU) began drilling in the Kingfisher oil fields.

Uganda aims to produce 200,000 barrels of oil per day by 2025 upon completion of the project.
