Egypt and Tunisia reject any efforts to displace Palestinians

Egypt and Tunisia firmly rejected any displacement of Palestinians, reaffirming their stance in a meeting on Monday in Cairo.

Foreign Ministers Badr Abdelatty and Mohamed Ali Nafti discussed Palestinian developments, Gaza’s reconstruction, and preparations for Tuesday’s emergency Arab summit in Egypt.

The summit aims to establish a unified Arab stance and counter reported U.S.-backed plans for Gaza’s population relocation.

Both diplomats called for a lasting political solution and an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry emphasized unwavering support for Palestinian rights and condemned any attempts to alter Gaza’s demographics.

Since October 2023, Israel’s war in Gaza has killed nearly 48,400 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

On Sunday, Israel blocked humanitarian aid just hours after a ceasefire phase expired, worsening the crisis.

Meanwhile, Israel faces legal scrutiny, with the ICC issuing arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes.

The ICJ is also reviewing a genocide case against Israel.
