Egypt, Denmark sign deal to prevent regional conflicts

Egypt and Denmark solidified ties on Saturday by signing a strategic partnership declaration in Copenhagen, aimed at fostering collaboration and averting regional confrontations.

The agreement, signed during Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s visit, marks a significant milestone in the century-old diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Al-Sisi’s visit to Denmark is part of a broader European tour, which began on Thursday and also includes stops in Norway and Ireland.

In Copenhagen, al-Sisi held extensive talks with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral ties in various sectors.

“This visit is the first of its kind since diplomatic relations were established in 1922,” al-Sisi said at a joint press conference.

He announced the formation of an Egypt-Denmark Business Council and the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation.

The strategic partnership spans political, economic, investment, and cultural affairs, aiming to elevate relations to unprecedented levels.

Discussions also focused on pressing regional issues, with particular attention to Egypt’s role in mediating the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Al-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s commitment to securing a ceasefire and fostering lasting peace in the volatile region.
