Egypt hosts Hamas for truce talks amid Israel’s Gaza war

An Egyptian delegation met with Hamas leaders in Cairo to restart ceasefire talks.

The meeting aimed to end the Gaza conflict, according to Egypt’s Al Qahera News TV.

This comes after months of Egypt and Qatar’s mediation efforts between Israel and Hamas.

The conflict, sparked by Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, remains unresolved.

Hamas-run Al Aqsa TV confirmed the arrival of a Hamas delegation led by Khalil Al-Hayya.

They are scheduled to meet with Egypt’s general intelligence head, Hassan Mahmoud Rashad.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed support for Egypt’s role in advancing hostage release talks.

Meanwhile, Qatar and U.S. diplomats announced upcoming meetings in Doha involving Israeli and U.S. negotiators to pursue a ceasefire.
