Egypt, Russia discuss Gaza conflict and Syria in phone call

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, held a phone conversation on Sunday to discuss the latest developments in Gaza and Syria, as well as bilateral relations.

During the call, Minister Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s “intensive efforts” to achieve an “immediate and lasting ceasefire” in Gaza and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged territory.

Egypt, along with Qatar and the United States, has been actively involved in mediation efforts to end the ongoing conflict.

Regarding the Syrian crisis, both ministers agreed on “the importance of supporting the Syrian state and respecting its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.”

They also emphasized the crucial role of diplomacy and coordination among key stakeholders in supporting Syria during its transition and ensuring the interests of all segments of the Syrian people are prioritized.

This revised version slightly strengthens the language and provides a more nuanced perspective on the Syrian situation.
