Luxor welcomes athletes for 32nd Egypt International Marathon

The ancient city of Luxor witnessed an extraordinary gathering on Friday as the 32nd Egypt International Marathon began.

A total of 430 runners from 45 countries assembled to participate in the prestigious event, showcasing their athletic spirit.

The race commenced at the iconic Temple of Hatshepsut, a 3,500-year-old wonder on the west bank of the River Nile.

This marathon has firmly established itself as a highlight of the annual tourism calendar, said Hesham Abu Zeid, Luxor’s deputy governor.

He emphasized the event’s pivotal role in boosting tourism while celebrating Egypt’s rich cultural heritage.

Known as one of the oldest sporting contests in the Middle East and Africa, the marathon holds a special place in regional athletics.
