A Russian passenger plane made an emergency landing in Egypt on Friday following a sudden engine malfunction.
The Ural Airlines Airbus A-321, carrying 236 passengers, was en route to Yekaterinburg when it encountered technical difficulties.
Just 10 minutes after takeoff from Sharm el-Sheikh Airport, the pilot reported an issue with one of the engines.
The Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed that the pilot swiftly requested emergency clearance from air traffic control to return.
The aircraft landed safely at Sharm el-Sheikh, with all passengers unharmed and transferred to the international terminal.
Expert teams have begun investigating the engine malfunction and are working on necessary repairs to the aircraft.
Authorities lauded the pilot’s prompt response, crediting it for averting what could have been a tragic situation.
