Trump to meet Saudi,Egyptian leaders, Israeli president says

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and possibly Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said on Sunday.

Speaking to Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Herzog responded to questions about Trump’s proposal to take over and redevelop the Gaza Strip.

Herzog did not specify the time or location of the meetings and avoided discussing their possible agenda.

He also confirmed that Trump is scheduled to meet with Jordan’s King Abdullah in the coming days, an event previously reported by Jordan’s state news agency.

“President Trump is due to meet with major, major Arab leaders, first and foremost the King of Jordan and the President of Egypt, and I think also the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia as well,” Herzog stated.

“These are partners that must be listened to, they must be discussed with. We have to honor their feelings as well and see how we build a plan that is sustainable for the future,” he added.

Saudi Arabia has firmly rejected Trump’s Gaza proposal, joining a chorus of world leaders opposed to the plan.

King Abdullah is expected to tell Trump during their planned February 11 meeting in Washington that the proposal could fuel radicalism and destabilize the Middle East.

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and officials in Cairo and Riyadh were not available for immediate response.
