Turkey announces oil, gas agreement with US

Turkish Petroleum has forged a joint venture with US energy giants Continental Resources and TransAtlantic Petroleum.

The agreement focuses on developing Türkiye’s unconventional oil and natural gas reserves.

This collaboration will center on operations within the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.

Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced the deal via social media, highlighting its significance.

He emphasized the project’s commitment to utilizing cutting-edge environmental and technological practices.

Furthermore, the agreement includes provisions for local workforce training and crucial technical knowledge transfer.

The venture aims to bolster Turkey’s energy independence by harnessing its domestic oil and gas potential.

Continental Resources, a major US oil producer, and TransAtlantic Petroleum, with 17 years of Turkish operational experience, bring substantial expertise.

This agreement marks a new chapter in Turkey’s energy exploration efforts.

Turkish Petroleum continues to expand its international partnerships.

The company has existing collaborations with Azerbaijan, Libya, Somalia, and Russia, demonstrating a broad strategic approach.

The company’s CEO, Ahmet Turkoglu, signaled further cooperation with Libya earlier this year, outlining the company’s growth strategy.
