Turkey expresses sorrow, urges peace in Sudan

Turkey expressed deep sorrow Saturday over Sudan’s worsening conflict, demanding an immediate ceasefire.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oncu Keceli conveyed Turkey’s plea via X, emphasizing the dire humanitarian situation.

He called upon all parties to halt the bloodshed and pursue peace.

Turkey pledged its readiness to provide full support for conflict resolution and stability in Sudan.

The ongoing war, between the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces, has resulted in over 20,000 deaths and displaced 14 million people.

The World Food Program warns that two million Sudanese face imminent famine.

International calls for peace are mounting, fueled by fears of a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.

The conflict now spans 13 of Sudan’s 18 states, amplifying the urgency for a resolution.
