Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan praised Senegal’s support for Palestine on Thursday.
He emphasized that Senegal’s backing of a two-state solution is “extremely valuable” for peace efforts.
Erdogan made these remarks during a joint press conference with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
He commended Senegal’s steadfast stance against what he termed Israel’s “genocidal policies.”
“We are following the steadfast stance of our African brothers,” Erdogan said.
He highlighted their understanding of oppression, war, and massacre in the ongoing conflict.
Erdogan criticized imperialist actions in Africa, stating, “A peaceful future cannot be built on blood and massacre.”
He believes this principle applies equally to the situations in Gaza and Lebanon.
On recent Israeli attacks in Lebanon and Palestine, Erdogan warned of an impending crisis.
He cautioned that the region is “heading toward a serious firestorm” in the near future.
Erdogan called on countries with a “sense of conscience” to increase pressure on the Israeli government.
He urged the international community to take decisive action in support of peace efforts.
