The suspect was detained at a house in Birmingham on Sunday, and an 18-year-old was also taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender, according to West Midlands Police.
The force said Mr Alama’s family had been informed of the development and were being supported by specialist officers. Police thanked those who had already provided information, and urged anyone else who may be able to help to come forward.
