Countries rush aid to Sri Lanka after devastating floods kill over 330

Several countries, including China, Australia, Nepal, and India, have rushed aid to Sri Lanka after devastating floods killed over 330 people and left 370 missing.

China pledged $100,000 in emergency cash, Nepal $200,000, and Australia AUD 1 million ($650,000) to support relief efforts. India has sent an 80-member team with supplies.

The floods and Cyclone Ditwah, which hit on November 17, affected over 1.1 million people. Authorities set up 1,275 relief centres, sheltering 180,499 displaced individuals. Military teams are conducting air and ground evacuations, while relief workers deliver food, water, and medical aid.

A Sri Lankan Air Force helicopter crashed during operations, but all crew were rescued. Academic activities in universities and vocational centres are paused until December 8. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has declared a state of emergency.
