Egypt strongly condemned Israel’s overnight airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, labeling them a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire in place since January 19.
In a statement Tuesday, the Egyptian foreign ministry warned that the renewed violence could destabilize the region and urged the international community to intervene.
Egypt, alongside Qatar and the United States, played a key role in brokering the fragile truce.
The strikes, the most intense since the ceasefire began, left more than 400 people dead, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry.
Hamas has yet to respond militarily.
Jordan also denounced the attacks.
Government spokesman Mohammed Momani described Israel’s bombardment as “aggressive and barbaric,” emphasizing the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump suggested relocating Gaza’s population to neighboring countries, a proposal swiftly rejected by Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab nations.
Instead, regional leaders have proposed a plan to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents.
Tensions remain high as the international community scrambles to prevent further bloodshed.
