
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Tuesday at the 16th BRICS Summit. The talks took place in Kazan, Russia, where al-Sisi attended the summit as a member for the first time.
Putin emphasized Egypt’s importance as a “long-standing and reliable partner.” He noted that Moscow is focused on expanding ties with Cairo, particularly in trade and economic cooperation.
Both leaders highlighted the ongoing joint projects, such as the construction of Egypt’s first nuclear power plant in El Dabaa. Putin also mentioned the countries’ shared approach to solving global issues, especially within the United Nations.
Al-Sisi expressed gratitude for Russia’s support in Egypt’s recent BRICS membership. He praised Russia’s efforts during its chairmanship of the bloc and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
Egypt is one of four nations to join the BRICS economic group on January 1, marking a significant step in its international cooperation efforts.
