Egypt, Russia call for immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon

Egypt and Russia jointly emphasized the urgent need for a cease-fire in Gaza and Lebanon during high-level talks on Friday.

The statement came after Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the Sir Bani Yas Forum in the United Arab Emirates, a three-day event set to conclude on Sunday.

“Both ministers agreed on the necessity for the immediate cease-fire (in Gaza and Lebanon), and the unconditional flow of humanitarian aid,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced.

Discussions between the two diplomats also touched on international and regional issues. However, the statement did not elaborate further on specific topics covered.

Meanwhile, Israel continues its strikes on Gaza and Lebanon, defying growing international calls for a cease-fire. The conflict has escalated, intensifying the humanitarian crisis in the region.

The Sir Bani Yas Forum, a key platform for global dialogue, has provided a critical backdrop for urgent diplomatic efforts. Leaders hope for progress as tensions rise across the Middle East.
