Fire breaks out after drone attack at US base in Iraq

An attack Thursday with a bomb-laden unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was carried out on a US-led coalition base against the Daesh/ISIS terror group in the town of Harir in Erbil, Iraq.

The regional government in Iraq released a statement through its Counter-Terrorism Unit’s official Facebook page that said at 7.15 p.m. local time, an attack was carried out on the Harir Base with a bomb-laden UAV, resulting in a fire at the base’s fuel depot.

It said the base had been evacuated Oct. 20.

In a later statement, the Counter-Terrorism Unit reported that the base was attacked with two bomb-laden UAVs last night, with no reported casualties, injuries or damages.

Harir is located approximately 70 kilometers (43 miles) northeast of Erbil.
